ตามที่ปรากฏการณ์มีการเผยแพร่เอกสารปลอมผ่านสื่อสังคมออนไลน์เกี่ยวกับโครงการศึกษาดูงานและฝึกงานในสหรัฐอเมริกา และมีการเรียกเก็บค่าใช้จ่าย ซึ่งมีการพาดพิงถึงมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่นั้น

มหาวิทยาลัยขอเรียนชี้แจงว่า ไม่ได้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับเอกสารหรือการจัดกิจกรรมดังกล่าวแต่อย่างใด

มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ขอแสดงความห่วงใยต่อผลกระทบที่อาจเกิดขึ้นจากการแอบอ้างชื่อเสียงของมหาวิทยาลัย เพื่อใช้ในการหลอกลวงหรือกระทำการโดยมิชอบ และขอเรียนให้ทราบว่า มหาวิทยาลัยจะดำเนินการทางกฎหมายต่อผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการกระทำการปลอมแปลงเอกสาร และการนำชื่อมหาวิทยาลัยไปใช้โดยมิได้รับอนุญาต

ขอให้นักศึกษาและผู้ปกครองโปรดใช้ความระมัดระวังในการรับข้อมูลข่าวสาร หลีกเลี่ยงการหลงเชื่อข้อมูลที่ไม่สามารถตรวจสอบได้ และหากพบปัญหาหรือกรณีที่น่าสงสัย ขอให้รีบแจ้งความกับเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจในพื้นที่เกิดเหตุโดยทันที

มหาวิทยาลัยขอเน้นย้ำให้ประชาชน นักเรียน ผู้ปกครอง ตลอดจนผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องทุกฝ่าย โปรดใช้ความระมัดระวัง เพื่อป้องกันมิให้ตกเป็นเหยื่อของการกระทำอันมิชอบดังกล่าว หากมีข้อสงสัย กรุณาสอบถามข้อมูลกับมหาวิทยาลัยโดยตรงก่อนมีการโอนเงินหรือให้ข้อมูลส่วนตัวใด ๆ
